Program Overview

Chronic venous disease and varicose veins represent one of the most common vascular conditions worldwide, requiring safe, minimally invasive treatment strategies that combine anatomical understanding with procedural precision.

Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) has become a cornerstone technique in modern phlebology. However, effective implementation requires advanced anatomical knowledge, ultrasound proficiency, and practical procedural training.
This program provides physicians with an immersive educational experience that integrates theoretical instruction, anatomical exploration, and hands-on procedural training. Conducted in a world-class surgical training environment, the course allows participants to develop practical competence in endovenous laser therapy using preserved anatomical specimens that replicate real clinical conditions. The program aims to strengthen clinical confidence, improve patient safety, and support physicians seeking to incorporate minimally invasive venous procedures into their practice.

Program Objective
To provide physicians with a comprehensive understanding of venous anatomy, ultrasound guidance, and endovenous laser techniques, enabling them to safely perform minimally invasive treatments for varicose veins in clinical practice.
Target Audience

This program is designed for physicians interested in venous disease management, including:

  • General surgeons
  • Vascular surgeons
  • Phlebologists
  • Interventional physicians
  • Physicians seeking to establish or expand a venous practice

Participants may also attend with a nurse coordinator or surgical assistant as part of a team-training experience

Curriculum Overview

The program combines didactic instruction, anatomical education, and hands-on procedural training, allowing participants to progress from foundational knowledge to practical application.

Theoretical Foundations
The course begins with a comprehensive review of the venous anatomy and physiology relevant to phlebology, including:

  • Deep venous system
  • Superficial venous system
  • Great saphenous vein anatomy
  • Small saphenous vein anatomy
  • Saphenofemoral and saphenopopliteal junctions
  • Venous valvular system
  • Perforating veins and collateral circulation
  • Nerve structures relevant to venous procedures

Participants also explore venous histology and structural variations of vein walls and valves.

Technical and Procedural Training
The program introduces the clinical principles required to perform Endovenous Laser Treatment, including:

  • Surgical setup and procedural workflow
  • Endovenous laser devices and fiber technology
  • Catheter and wire systems
  • Tumescent anesthesia preparation and administration
  • Procedural safety protocols

Hands-On Clinical Training
Participants then move to the surgical training laboratory, where they rotate through specialized procedural stations, including:

  • Ultrasound mapping and venous evaluation
  • Endovenous laser equipment operation
  • Catheter and fiber positioning
  • Tumescent anesthesia delivery techniques
  • Endovenous laser treatment of the Great Saphenous Vein (GSV)
  • Treatment of the Small Saphenous Vein (SSV)
  • Access techniques and phlebectomy procedures

Each participant performs procedural simulations using medically preserved human specimens, enabling realistic practice of venous interventions.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Analyze the anatomical structures of the venous system relevant to minimally invasive venous procedures.
  2. Perform ultrasound mapping to identify venous insufficiency and treatment targets.
  3. Plan and execute Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) using standardized procedural protocols.
  4. Administer tumescent anesthesia safely and effectively during venous interventions.
  5. Select and utilize appropriate devices, including laser fibers, catheters, and ultrasound equipment.
  6. Recognize anatomical variations and avoid complications associated with venous procedures.
  7. Apply minimally invasive venous treatments in outpatient clinical practice.
  8. Improve procedural decision-making through hands-on anatomical training.
Key Skills Acquired

Participants will develop the ability to:

  • Perform ultrasound-guided venous mapping
  • Access and treat the Great and Small Saphenous veins
  • Operate endovenous laser systems
  • Apply tumescent anesthesia techniques
  • Handle wires, fibers, and catheter systems
  • Identify venous anatomical variations
  • Manage procedural complications
  • Integrate EVLT into clinical practice

Why This Course Is Unique

Several elements distinguish this program from conventional training courses.

Training on preserved human specimens
Participants practice on specially prepared anatomical specimens that preserve the structure of veins and tissues, allowing realistic procedural training.

World-class surgical training environment
The program is held at the Nicholson Center in Orlando, internationally recognized as one of the most advanced surgical training facilities in the world.

Integration of anatomy and clinical practice
The course bridges anatomical education and procedural execution, ensuring that participants understand the structural basis of each intervention.

International faculty expertise
The program is led by experienced physicians, anatomists, and healthcare professionals with extensive expertise in phlebology and venous interventions.

Simulation of real clinical scenarios
Participants practice procedural techniques and complication management in a controlled educational environment before applying them in clinical settings.

Program Highlights

✔ International faculty specializing in venous disease and medical anatomy
✔ Hands-on procedural training using preserved human specimens
✔ Ultrasound-guided venous mapping and procedural planning
✔ Evidence-based education in minimally invasive venous treatment
✔ Training in one of the most advanced surgical centers in the United States
✔ Immersive clinical experience focused on patient safety and procedural precision

Why Healthcare Professionals Choose This Program

Physicians worldwide choose this program because it offers a rare combination of anatomical education, procedural expertise, and hands-on clinical training in a highly specialized learning environment.

Through intensive instruction, participants gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical competence that can be directly applied to patient care.

By training alongside international experts and practicing in one of the most advanced surgical training facilities available, physicians develop the confidence and technical mastery required to incorporate minimally invasive venous treatments into modern clinical practice.
